Welcome and well done for taking the first step to restoring your health!
On arrival to the Putney Bridge Clinic you will be warmly greeted and asked to fill out our confidential colonic questionaire.
Next, we ask you to empty your bladder before the consultation.
Your Guild trained therapist will then introduce herself and escort you to the treatment room, where you will be made to feel comfortable and hopefully less nervous as the consultation progresses.
The consultation should last approximately 30 minutes- Blood pressure readings and weight are recorded as a baseline. We then discuss your needs and fully explain the treatment.
If no contra indications exists, we discuss putting together a bespoke programme for those of you wishing having a course of treatment.
Administration out of the way, you are shown where to change into your sterile gown and disposable underwear.
Once changed , you will be guided on to our warm treatment couch and asked to lie on your left side with knees drawn towards your chest.
Your modesty is perserved at all times by a large bath sheet covering the hips downwards.
Throughtout the treatment you will be explained to what is going to happen before it does, so no surprises! In fact, much of the treatment is controlled by you.
Once you are on your left side the disposable scope is gently introduced and attached to the hose, warm purified water is gently introduced into the rectum.
After a few minutes you will be assisted on to your back with your knee bent, your therapist will then proceed to gently massage your abdomen to help release the stools and break up the intestinal trapped wind.
Using this special massage and various techniques for about 35-50 minutes, your therapist will use this opportunity to advise you on the best way to get the most from your colonic together with diet and lifestyle choices.
In the case of severe constipation (no stool for 2 weeks or more) we recommend another treatment within a few days after the initial one, together with increased fluid intake . This does not mean the treatment has not been successful only that you need more hydration to remove the impacted material stored in the decending colon.
On completion of the colonic, your therapist will again assist you on to your left side to remove the disposable scope. You are then asked to dress and shown to the toilet facilities.
At this point you are encouraged to take your time using the facilities.
On your return to the treatment room your therapist will discuss her findings whilst treating you, please ask as many questions as you like during and after your treatment, remember we work better with your co-operation.
We advise on various herbs for different complaints, but stress that you always take a good probiotic or acidophilus post treatment for at least two weeks to re-populate the flora of the intestine.
We hope this helps you in your decision to have a colonic at Hydrotone Colonic Clinic in Putney.
